My name is David Scanlon, and this is my second attempt at blogging. I’m originally from Clare, on the west coast of Ireland, but have been studying, working and living in Dublin for the past decade. You have no idea how old that last sentence makes me feel.
I am married to my childhood sweetheart, Sinéad, and we have two children: a smashing little boy, and a very recently arrived baby girl, who we’re just starting to get to know. Having a family is the most fulfilling experience imaginable, humbling and inspirational in equal measure. I highly recommend it :)
I work for Enterprise Ireland, the Irish government agency charged with the development and promotion of the indigenous business sector, and have done so since completing my under-graduate studies in 2004. My current role as an eBusiness Adviser involves promoting the use of ICT, and increasingly, online marketing, to help Irish companies improve their productivity and competitiveness, and increase export sales. This year, I am also working with a project group within Enterprise Ireland, to help drive the use of Social Media within the organisation itself. I absolutely love my job, although, given the economic woes currently being experienced in this country, I am more and more aware of how lucky am I am to be in this position.
This blog will be a collection of thoughts and comments on technology, marketing and innovation, and anything else that might strike my fancy. As it says on the tin: no focus, some perspective. All feedback welcomed, thanks for dropping by.
